This Cabernet Sauvignon is deep red with purple hues and a vivid magenta rim. In the glass, aromas of mixed berry jam, plum and vanilla mingle with notes of violets, cedar and black tea. Upon tasting, this dry wine offers concentrated black cherry, black currant and fig with a fruity then savory finish with hints of mocha, white pepper, sweet tobacco, and stone. The body is bold yet balanced with moderate tannins that fade gently alongside the finish.

Made with Organic Grapes - The Merlot and Syrah both were organically grown on the Terra Alta vineyard located in the Clements AVA of the Lodi area. The dominant Cabernet variety came from the Hidden Oaks vineyard (18%) located in the Clements Hills AVA on rolling gravelly soil, and from the L&P Vineyard in Madera (58%), which is a warm appellation with sandy soils. Lastly, the Petit Sirah was organically grown on the Vista Luna vineyard in the Borden Ranch appellation of Lodi.

2022 was a vintage featuring almost every kind of weather pattern. After another dry winter, spring saw a normal budbreak with quite variable weather patterns. A severe April frost reduced crop levels, particularly in Lodi, sometimes as much as 50%. The lighter crop enjoyed a relatively mild and consistent growing season until a triple digit heat wave hit during the Labor Day weekend and forced many growers to pick faster than predicted. The red varietals for this blend made it through the heat wave and were harvested immediately after to avoid dehydration.

Produced as a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (76%), Petit Sirah (14%), Syrah (6%) and Merlot (4%). All the varieties were crushed separately to stainless steel fermenters and pumped over 3x per day for 7-10 days to fully extract color, tannins and flavor. Warm ferments at 80° F helped with the extraction process and produced fully flavored red wines. When the new wines fermented dry, the skins were pressed in tank presses and allowed to proceed through malolactic fermentation to soften acidity and add complexity. The new wine was then racked away from the lees and onto a combination of French and American toasted oak and aged for 3 months. The individual lots were tasted, and blend trials made before determining the best-balanced blend. The Cabernet was then simply filtered and bottled.
